4-H Animal Science ROUNDUP is an annual gathering of Iowa's 4-H and FFA livestock project members. The event is conducted by the ISU Department of Animal Science, Extension 4-H Youth Development, and state commodity groups. ROUNDUP activities are conducted at the Animal Science Department facilities on the ISU campus and the nearby research farms. The purpose of ROUNDUP is to teach modern concepts and technologies in Animal Agriculture to Iowa 4-H and FFA members and to also introduce them to career opportunities in the field of animal science. ROUNDUP consists primarily of hands-on, experiential learning activities that cover a wide array of animal science related topics. Workshops offered include: computer simulation activities to develop feed rations and breeding programs, artificial insemination training, ultrasound determination of carcass composition in the live animal, equine training techniques, lessons in cardiovascular physiology using a treadmill with horses and much more!
