Iowa State Team wins Beef Quiz Bowl at National Cattleman’s Beef Association Convention

A team of 4 graduates from the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University out performed two other teams at the NCBA Convention in Denver on February 3, 2006. The other two invited teams were from North Carolina State University and Oregon State University representing the Western and Southern regions of the United States. The Iowa State team was organized by the students to compete in a local contest at Iowa State in the fall of 2004. Their next step was the Midwest ASAS/ADSA meetings in Des Moines in March 2005 where they won a competition against 15 other teams from across the midwest. The team is composed of Pat Hoffmann, John "Dusty" Loy, Jennifer Taylor and Conrad Spangler. Pat was originally from Walnut, Iowa and is now employed by Prestage-Stoecker Farms. Dusty was originally from Ames, Iowa and Jennifer was originally from Hebron, Connecticut. Dusty and Jennifer are currently students in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State. Conrad was originally from Hillsboro, Iowa and is currently a student in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota.
