The following received awards at the Department of Animal Science Poster Contest for Undergraduate Students: First Place: Lorilee Schultz (Dr. Timms) Case Study of prevention and therapy strategies for a high somatic cell count herd. Second Place: Andrew Brown (Dr. Beitz) TNF-alpha promotes nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in diet dependent manner in rat models. Third Place: Dan Mouw (Dr. Rothschild) Candidate genes affecting sow productive life. Fourth Place: Kathy Mou (Dr. E. Lonergan) Biochemical analysis of specific proteins in the round muscle for improvement of tenderness. This was the first annual Undergraduate Research Poster Competition and 10 undergraduate representing seven labs in the department entered posters.
