ISU HONORS INVENTORS

More than 100 current and past ISU scientists who invented a product or process were honored at a special banquet in early 1998, including 13 Animal Science faculty. This gathering was the first of its kind recognizing all of ISU's scientists whose work led to a commercial product.

"We wanted to provide a night of recognition for the people who worked tirelessly to take an idea in the lab and make a useful product out of it," according to Patricia Swan, vice provost for research. "The work of these people is helping diversify Iowa economy and make the nation a stronger economic entity," she added.

Some of the products invented by the scientists go back to the 1940s.

The second banquet recognizing inventors was held in the spring of 1999, adding two more products to the list of inventions by Department of Animal Science personnel.

The list above includes all Animal Science inventors, with year of first sale and product.
