J. L. SELL Inducted Into
Iowa Turkey Federation
Hall of Fame 2002

Dr. Jerry L. Sell, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Professor Emeritus of Animal Science, was inducted into the Iowa Turkey Federation Hall of Fame December 5, 2002. Dr. Sell is a world-renowned poultry nutritionist who was a faculty member of the Iowa State University Department of Animal Science from 1976 until his retirement in 2000. During this time, Dr. Sell worked closely with the turkey industry and with the Iowa Turkey Federation and its members. Although Dr. Sell's research encompassed many aspects of poultry nutrition, much of the work was focused on the turkey. His accomplishments are many but, in particular, his work on vitamin E and turkey stunting syndrome had major impact on the turkey industry.

Dr. Sell served on the Iowa Turkey Federation Board of Directors from 1988--2000. Some major awards and recognition given to Dr. Sell for his outstanding career include —

• Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture, Iowa State University, 1986 (highest recognition for distinguished academic achievement)
• American Feed Manufacturers Award for Outstanding Contributions in Poultry Nutrition Research, 1978
• North Dakota State University Faculty Lectureship Award, 1974 (highest recognition for distinguished academic achievement)
• North Dakota State University Outstanding Teacher Award, 1971
