Meat Judging International National Championship in Dakota City, NE

The 2017 Iowa State University Meat Judging Team finished in 9th place at The International National Championship in Dakota City, NE behind Texas Tech, Kansas State University, Colorado State University, Oklahoma State University, Texas A&M, South Dakota State University, Florida, and Nebraska. In divisions, the team was 7th in lamb judging, 8th in beef judging and total placings, 9th in overall beef and specifications, and 10th in beef grading. Austin Lanphier (New Sharon) was 10th individual in total placings and high team individual, as well as the team recipient of the Rachel Hamilton Memorial Spirit Award. Additional team members include: Stephanie Martin (Vincent), Drew Wilson (Delhi), Taylor Wulf (Hudson), and Beth Zuber (Williamsburg). Coaches for this team are Dr. Sherry Olsen, Rachel Wynn (Bedford, IN), and Laura Yoder (Kalona). This team has represented our program very honorably all season...and we wish them well in their future endeavors of graduate school, continuing education in medicine, and careers in the livestock and meat industries. Eight weeks until the 2018 team competes in the National Western!
