From Des Moines Airport to Gateway Hotel, Ames
Route 1 (Red Arrows)
As you leave the Des Moines International Airport, turn left onto Fleur Dr. and go north. After approximately 3 miles Fleur Dr. turns into ML King Pky, continue on ML King Pky another 1 mile to I-235. Merge east onto I-235 (right lane ramp) and go approximately 6.9 miles, I-235 turns into I-35.
Route #2 (Black Arrows)
As you leave the Des Moines International Airport, turn right onto Fleur Dr. and go south. After approximately 1.3 miles Fleur Dr. turns into 85th Ave., continue on 85th Ave. another .3 miles to Iowa Highway 5. Merge onto IA Hwy 5 (right lane off 85th Ave.) and go approximately 6.6 miles east, then IA Hwy 5 will turn into Highway 65, continue east and north for another 15 miles to I-80. Go west on I-80 (left lane off Hwy 65) approximately three miles to I-35.
Both Routes
Go north on I-35 (right lane off I-80), Ames is approximately 26 miles. Take the Ames Exit 111B (be in right lane off I-35) and go west on U.S. Highway 30. Continue on US 30 W for 4 miles. Exit to University Boulevard (Exit 146). At stop sign turn left onto University Boulevard (going under the overpass), follow University Boulevard approximately 1 block. Turn right onto Green Hills Drive – Welcome to Gateway Hotel & Conference Center!
