June 15, 2017

Iowa Sheep and Wool FestivalCome join in the fun at the Jeff and Deb Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center this Saturday and learn to knit, spin, weave, dye fibers and meet those producers of the animals that provide the lovely fiber to work with. Iowa's only Sheep & Wool Festival is sponsored by the Iowa Sheep Industry Association and is happening this Saturday and Sunday, June 17th and 18th.  Doors open at 8:30am.

Established in 2005, the festival includes all aspects of the fiber world. The event offers fiber classes and fiber vendors, fiber guild demonstrations, a fleece show and silent auction. Don't miss the sheep shearing demonstrations, sheepdog trial and demonstrations, and sheep shows. In the Hall of breeds you will see different breeds of sheep and be able to talk to the breeders. Cast your vote at the Photo gallery contest; attend the sheep education seminars. Sample the wonderful lamb creations at the Lamb-atizers Sampling Social. The Special Saturday Evening Lamb event is always a hit.  On Sunday the festival continues with the addition of the Iowa State Block and Bridle Cyclone Alley Lamb Show. Showtime begins at 11:00 am.
