The Animal Science “AnCy Guides” Program’s mission is to aid in the already on-going existing recruitment of prospective undergraduate Animal Science, Dairy Science and General Pre-Veterinary students through Iowa State University as well as the retention of undergraduate students within the Department of Animal Science. AnCy Guides will assist faculty with recruitment/informational events such as daily student visits, Experience Iowa State (EIS), Fall and Spring CALS Junior Visit Day, CALS Family Weekend, ISU Major Fair and other events and programs throughout the academic year. AnCy Guides will be the liaisons to answer questions from prospective students and families and to talk about their experience within the Department of Animal Science as well as at Iowa State University.
Applications must be submitted by April 9, 2021by 11:59 p.m. No late applications will be accepted or considered. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of Monday, April 12.
For consideration, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Minimum grade point average of 2.5.
Be an Animal Science or Dairy Science major.
Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude and self-motivation.
Completed one semester at Iowa State.
Must not graduate before May 2022.
Specifics of the program:
Program will run from August 2021 – December 2022.
1 credit of AnS 490, fall and spring semesters.
Will receive an Animal Science “AnCy Guides” Polo and name tag.
Requirements of the program:
Attend a mandatory training session in August, 2021.
Attend monthly meetings throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Complete 20 hours of contact time with prospective students
