Department Professors inducted into the Meat Industry Hall of Fame

The Department of Animal Science has two professors that have been included in the 2016 Class Members list for the Meat Industry Hall of Fame: Dr. Joe Cordray and Dr. Joe Sebranek.  

Dr. Joe Cordray

Dr. Joseph Cordray is a Professor in Animal Science and a Smithfield Chair in Meat Extension.  Dr. Cordray graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in 1983 with a Ph.D. in Meat Science.   After receiving his doctorate, he became the Director of Research and Development at A.C. Legg, Inc in Calera, Alabama.  He worked there for 12 years and has been the Professor-in-charge of the Meat Laboratory with ISU for the last 20 years.  He is responsible for the dissemination of information on Meat Science and technology as well as coordinating short courses for both domestic and international meat industry personnel.   

 

Dr. Joe Sebranek

Dr. Joseph Sebranek is a University Professor, Distinguished Professor of Animal Science and a Morrison Endowed Chair in Meat Science.  Dr. Sebranek graduated with a Ph.D. in Meat and Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Sebranek's primary research interest is processed and cured meats.  He joined the ISU faculty in 1975.  With over  40 years of teaching, extension and research, Dr. Sebranek has made a real contribution to the success of the Meat Science program at Iowa state University.
