World Pork Expo was this past week and Dr. John Patience was awarded the John B. Swisher Leadership Award at the Expo. The award and the $5,000.00 check was presented at the JBS United reception. JBS asks awardees to donate their check to a department of their choice and Dr. Patience chose the Department of Animal Science. Award qualifications include an individual who exemplifies extraordinary leadership qualities and who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the swine industry.
Dr. Patience's research focuses on Swine Nutrition and with that energy metabolism, ingredient evaluation and feeding and management. His team consists of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students. He also has responsibilities in extension, providing service to pork producers across Iowa as well as the U.S.
