The Spoor Trophy went to the University of Illinois in 1900. The 1901, 1902 and 1903 Iowa State Livestock Judging Teams took first at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago and permanently captured the fabulous Spoor Trophy. This was the second year of the Exposition. The International Livestock Exposition instigated the explosion of intercollegiate judging teams for both animals and fruits. At this point, the ISU BOMB had not yet begun to include in its pages the worthy accomplishments of the Animal Husbandry Livestock Judging Teams. Heading the College of Agriculture in 1901 was C. F. Curtiss, who had attended the opening in 1900 of the Chicago Live Stock International Exposition. When Illinois won the first collegiate live stock judging competition, Curtiss immediately hired the coach, W. J. Kennedy, away from Illinois to Iowa State. With Kennedy, Iowa State won first place at the International in 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1906, 1907, 1910, and 1911.
