The International Contest in Chicago was cancelled this year, due to WWII. The team placed fifth in the contest at the National Belgian Horse Show at Waterloo, Iowa. Maurice Peterson placed ninth in individual scoring. Iowa State teams have the highest long-time record at the Waterloo contest, winning the title three times out of six, breaking all previous records at Kansas City in 1941, and leading in Chicago victories. The contest was cancelled during WWII — 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945. It took up again in 1946.
