The 1953 team took sixth place in thirty-six teams at the collegiate livestock judging contest at the International Livestock Show. This year the team participated in the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show, taking first place out of fifteen teams. They placed second in the National Barrow Show at Austin, Minnesota, and first at the Kansas City Royal.
