June Dairy Month
June Dairy Month is upon us! This is the 8th year for this family-geared event and Dr. Leo Timms, Morrill Professor in Animal Science, says the Animal Science Department is proud to help host this event. The event is held at the ISU Dairy farm and is open to the public. Timms says “The purpose of the event is to educate the public about modern dairy. There are so many things that go into running a dairy farm. Environmental stewardship, animal health and comfort, product quality and safety and local cropping systems to provide quality feed for the dairy herd are just some of the things we talk about”. Timms says the event is important because it gets the public involved and talking about dairy and it’s fun. The event is from 6:00am – 11am on Friday, June 10 and has food samplings as well as riding tours of the dairy farm. All are welcome to attend.
