Meat Judging Team Sees Success at 2016 Southeastern

In mid-April, the 2016 ISU Meat Judging Team completed their spring competition schedule by competing in the Southeastern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest hosted by The Ohio State University – Columbus and the University of Kentucky – Lexington. The team earned 4th place honors in the contest where 9 full teams vied for the champion trophy.  The Cyclones finished with divisional honors:  3rd in beef grading, specifications, and pork judging; and 4th in reasons. Individual honors included: Austin Egolf (Dillsburg, PA) – 8th high individual in contest, 1st in placings, 6th in beef judging, and 7th in specifications; Michaela Fevold (Story City) – 1st in beef judging; Michael Stender (Aurelia) – 5th in specifications and 6th in beef grading;  Paige Whitney (Ida Grove) – 5th in reasons and 9th in specifications;  Rachel Wynn (Bedford, IN) – 4th high individual in contest, 6th in reasons, and 7th in pork judging; Laura Yoder (Kalona) – 7th high individual in contest, 3rd in beef grading, and 8th in overall beef. Zack Peppmeier (Shannon City) is also a team member.
