The Iowa State University Meat Animal Evaluation team successfully competed at the National Meat Animal Evaluation Contest in Manhattan, KS. This contest is unique; as it challenges students to know about all facets of the livestock industry. The contest is divided into 4 portions: market animal evaluation, breeding animal evaluation, meats judging, and communications. Iowa State finished 7th overall in market animal evaluation, 5th overall in breeding animal evaluation, 11th overall in the meats division, and 3rd overall in the communications division. The top 4 contestant scores count toward the team final score, and Iowa State University finished 8th overall in the national competition. Individually, Jack Kelly was named high overall individual in sheep judging across the market, breeding, and meats division. Other team members include: Zach Bobb, Cade Bracker, Tanner Hild, John Fortin, Ellen Jackson, Zach Jamison, Landon Johnson, Kenton Lain, Kade Lindback, Lucas Olson, Grace Seaba, Jeremy Tjardes, Ben Veum, and Paige Whitney.
