Iowa State Rodeo Club to host Iowa Ranch Rodeo Championship

The Iowa State University Rodeo Club is holding their first annual Ranch Rodeo Championship on Saturday, November 13th at the Hansen Agricultural Learning Center, beginning at 5:30 pm. Teams of four can sign up to compete in events such as team sorting, team mugging, calf branding, trailering, and the rescue race, all done on the back of a horse. The doors will open at 4:30 pm. There will be various awards given for the winners, as well as the “Best Horse” and “Tough Luck” awards.

The rodeo club is also partnering with Cultivating Hope Farms that morning to put on the Buck-a-Roo Roundup event. From 9 am to 12 pm, the club will help teach cowboy skills to kids for free. These skills include roping dummies, kiddy goat tying, and slow horse barrel racing. The Collegiate Cattlemen Club will be providing lunch from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Kynzi Cole is a Rodeo Club member and is excited to help put on the Buck-a-Roo Roundup. She said, “Cultivating Hope Farms are very generous people working for such a good cause.”
