Block and Bridle Continues Animal Learning Day

The 2026 Iowa State University Block and Bridle Animal Learning Day welcomed approximately 1,600 attendees to campus this spring for a hands-on educational experience focused on agriculture, livestock, and animal science. Hosted annually by the Block and Bridle club, the event continues to serve as an opportunity for families, students, and community members to learn more about the agricultural industry through interactive exhibits and live demonstrations. Visitors had the chance to explore a wide variety of displays featuring livestock species, agricultural organizations, and educational activities designed to connect the public with the importance of animal agriculture. The event also welcomed special guests, including President David Cook and Dr. Katie Cook, who spent time visiting displays and interacting with attendees throughout the day.President and Dr. Cook with Rainbow Raccoon Ranch Highland Cattle

This year’s event introduced several new displays that added to the excitement and educational value of the day. Attendees were able to interact with representatives from the Ames Animal Shelter and learn more about animal care, adoption, and community outreach efforts. Another crowd favorite included demonstrations and appearances from the Ames Police Department K-9 dogs, giving guests a closer look at the training and responsibilities of working police dogs. A longtime highlight of Animal Learning Day also returned this year with the popular Highland cattle display from Rainbow Raccoon Ranch, which continues to be a favorite attraction among attendees of all ages. With strong community support and growing attendance, the 2026 Animal Learning Day once again highlighted the impact of agricultural education and outreach at Iowa State University.
