Judging Teams

Cyclone Classic

The Iowa State University Department of Animal Science judging teams are recognized with longstanding traditions of excellence both across the state of Iowa and in regional and national competitions.  Preparing students for future career opportunities and providing foundations for success provide the basis for these programs.  Students do not have to be animal science majors to join departmental judging teams; therefore, young men and women from different majors and minors are welcome to participate in these programs.  Faculty coaches take great pride in molding these students to become successful contributors to society through participation in judging activities.

Below are some skills that can be learned by participating in any of the Iowa State University Department of Animal Science judging teams:

  • Self confidence
  • Effective communication
  • Organization and preparation
  • Time management
  • Dedication and commitment to individual and team goals
  • Representing Iowa State University

Not only will students have opportunities to sharpen the above skill sets but they will also have opportunities to travel and experience agriculture across the US.
