2019 Central Star Accelerated Genetics Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

The Iowa State Dairy Judging Team competed at the 2019 Central Star Accelerated Genetics Dairy Cattle Judging Contest at the Vernon County Fairgrounds in Viroqua, WI. Iowa State placed 9^th overall in the Guernsey division, 5^th in Milking Shorthorns, 3^rd in Holsteins, 1^st in Jerseys and 3^rd in Reasons. Individual members received multiple high placings including: Nathan Arthur – 4^th in Jerseys, 12^th in Reasons and 16^th High Individual; Taylor Currie - 2^nd in Milking Shorthorns, 5^th in Holsteins, 9^th in Reasons and 17^th High Individual; Carley Krull - 10^th in Milking Shorthorns, 15^th in Holsteins, 6^th in Jerseys, 14^th in Reasons and 13^th High Individual; and Trevor Malven - 6^th in Milking Shorthorns, 4^th in Holsteins, 5^th in Jerseys, 4^th in Reasons and 3^rd High Individual.

2019 World Dairy Expo 99^th Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

The Iowa State Dairy Judging Team competed at the 2019 World Dairy Expo’s 99^th Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Madison, WI. The team marked strong cards and placed 4^th Overall out of 18 teams. Division results include 3^rd in Ayrshires, 9^th in Brown Swiss, 9^th in Guernseys, 3^rd in Holsteins, 7^th in Jerseys, 3^rd in Milking Shorthorns, 9^th in Red and Whites, and 3^rd in Reasons. Individual placings include: Nathan Arthur – 11^th in Milking Shorthorns; Taylor Currie - 1^st in Guernseys, 5^th in Reasons; Carley Krull – 5^th in Holsteins, 1st in Jerseys, 10^th in Milking Shorthorns and 4^th in Red and Whites; and Trevor Malven - 8^th in Ayrshires, 4^th in Brown Swiss and 7^th in Reasons. Trevor Malven, Taylor Currie and Carley Krull placed in the top 25 qualifying as All-Americans.

2019 North American International Livestock Exposition Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

The Iowa State Dairy Judging Team placed 8^th Overall at the North American International Livestock Exposition Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Louisville, KY. The team placed 12^th in Ayrshires, 7^th in Brown Swiss, 11^th in Guernseys, 6^th in Holsteins, 6^th in Jerseys and 9^th in Reasons. Individual placings include Carley Krull – 12^th in Holsteins and 17^th in Reasons; Ryanne Baker – 14^th in Holsteins; and Rachel Grober – 6^th in Jerseys and 12^th High Individual.

2020 Southwest Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

The Iowa State Dairy Judging Team had a successful run at the 2020 Southwest Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held at the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, TX. The team divided into two, Team Cardinal consisting of Nathan Arthur, Harrison Furlow and Trevor Marlen, and Team Gold consisting of Aaron Gerdts, Rachel Grober and Cynthia Hamlett.

Team Cardinal placed 9^th Overall being 10^th in Brown Swiss, 9^th in Holsteins, 2^nd in Jerseys and 7^th in Reasons. Individual placings included: Trevor Malven – 8^th in Brown Swiss, 2^nd in Jerseys and 11^th High Individual and Harrison Furlow – 9^th in Holsteins and 4^th in Jerseys.

Team Gold placed 6^th Overall being 7^th in Brown Swiss, 7^th in Holsteins, 7^th in Jerseys, 7^th in Holsteins and 3^rd in Reasons. Individual placings included: Aaron Gerdts – 23th in Brown Swiss, 8^th in Holsteins and 10^th High Individual; Cynthia Hamlett – 9^th in Jerseys, 6^th in Reasons and 18^th High Individual; Rachel Grober – 15^th in Reasons.
