Sophomore Dairy Science Scholarships

ALLYN HAGEN DAIRY SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP    $750

The recipient(s) must:

  1. Be pursuing a degree in Dairy Science
  2. Give evidence of financial need
  3. Demonstrate integrity and leadership potential
  4. Be involved in extra-curricular activities related to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

ARTHUR GERLACH SCHOLARSHIP IN DAIRY SCIENCE     $800

In consultation with the Gerlach family, the recipient shall be selected on the basis of:

  1. Satisfactory academic standing
  2. Being a resident of Iowa
  3. Enrollment in Dairy Science (production) or in a pre-professional curriculum administered by the dairy science curriculum
  4. Preference shall be given to Sophomores
  5. This scholarship is limited to those students who come from a family engaged in Holstein dairying or who have a background and interest in the Holstein breed

ARTHUR R. PORTER SCHOLARSHIP     $1250

Recipient(s) shall be selected on the basis of:

  1. Academic performance
  2. Financial Need
  3. Leadership

C.F. FOREMAN SCHOLARSHIP IN DAIRY SCIENCE     $2500

The recipient(s) must;

  1. Have good academic standing; GPA of 2.0 or higher
  2. Be enrolled in Dairy Science (production) or in a pre-professional curriculum administered by the dairy science curriculum

ERIK M. KREKEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP    $1500

The recipient(s) must:

  1. Demonstrate a love of agriculture
  2. Major in Animal Science with preference to a student studying Dairy Science
  3. Be a United States citizen
  4. Demonstrate reasonable progress towards obtaining a degree

ERPELDING ISU DAIRY SCIENCE INSPIRATION AWARD     $1000

This award is to enhance Dairy Science student's educational experiences with exposure to global agriculture and international policy and to encourage aspirations toward a post-graduation career with a global focus. The Recipient must:

  1. Be enrolled in the Dept. of Animal Science majoring in Dairy Science
  2. Demonstrate financial need
  3. Demonstrate high academic achievement
  4. Have a record of co-curricular activity and involvement that indicates promise to the agricultural industry
  5. Preference shall be given to students who are considering a career with a global focus after graduation

KERMIT & JANIS COGGSHALL SCHOLARSHIP IN DAIRY SCIENCE    $1000

The recipient(s) must:

  1. Be admitted to or enrolled in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences
  2. Be majoring in Dairy Science
  3. Demonstrate a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale
  4. Preference shall be given to students who display leadership and participate in school, professional organizations and community service activities. Evidence of this involvement may include such things as holding office, serving on a committee, or receiving honors and awards from a recognized student, professional or community organization.

LYLE E. MCBRIDE III MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP     $1500

The recipient(s) must:

Major in Dairy Science

MARY B. & WILLIAM H. GILBERT BROWN SWISS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP     $1000

The recipient(s) must:

  1. Be a member of the Dairy Science Club
  2. Demonstrate a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  3. As part of their application, submit a 500-word essay that outlines the specific merits of Brown Swiss dairy cattle. This report should include any personal, applicable experience with the breed such as ownership, employment or judging activities
  4. Preference shall be given to students who display leadership and/or participation in school and community activities as evidenced by such things as active participation/leadership role in a recognized student organization, professional organization, or honors and awards received

PAUL STEWART MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP     $1000

The recipient(s) must:

  1. Have completed their Freshman year in agriculture
  2. Have an interest in dairy cattle, primarily the Holstein breed
  3. Have outstanding scholarship, character, and promise of leadership
  4. Financial Need

RALPH BAKER SCHOLARSHIP     $800

The recipient(s) must:

  1. Demonstrate Financial Need
  2. Be enrolled in the Dept of Animal Science
  3. Be committed to a Dairy Science-affiliated major

RUSSELL BENTLEY DAIRY SCIENCE AWARDS     $1250

Recipient(s) shall be selected on the basis of:

  1. Academic excellence
  2. Leadership performance
  3. Financial Need

THORVALD J. ANDERSEN SCHOLARSHIP     $2500
