Meat Judging Resources
Welcome to Iowa’s Youth Meat Judging Resource Hub
This site is dedicated to supporting Iowa’s 4-H and FFA youth, educators, and coaches with high-quality resources for meat judging education and competition. Whether you're just getting started or preparing for state and national contests, you'll find teaching tools, practice materials, and Iowa-specific content to help you succeed.
Our goal is to foster hands-on learning, develop critical thinking, and build confidence in students as they explore the science and skill behind meat evaluation. From foundational lessons to advanced practice sets, to images from past contests, these resources are designed to support the continued growth of meat judging programs across the state—and to inspire the next generation of Iowa’s agricultural leaders.
Save the Dates
The 2027 Iowa FFA State Meat Judging Contest will be held at the Iowa State University Meat Laboratory on TBA.
The Iowa 4-H State Meat Judging Contest will take place at the same location on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
We look forward to welcoming teams from across the state for these hands-on, skill-building events!
